This Hog Splitter was made as the “Hero Weapon” for Season 10, episode 7 of Forged in Fire. I made this piece from wrought iron, pure Nickel, and 80CrV2 in a gomai pattern. The wrought iron was sourced from old anchor chain, and has a distinct wood-grained appearance. This beast weighs in at just over 8 lbs, the blade is 23-1/2” long 3/8” thick, and between 4” and 5-1/4” wide. The walnut handle is 15” long, making the overall length of this splitter over 39”! It has some very slight marring of the finish, having been used by both Doug Marcaida and myself to split a hog (check out my splitting video on Instagram). It is wicked sharp, and suffered no damage from use.
